Please Help Raise Funds for The Learwood Bands!
Today, we are kicking off our Learwood Music Department Fundraiser. We are selling chocolates, candy, candy Easter eggs, flower bulbs, flower/fruit/vegetable seeds, kitchen items, dip mixes, candles, tumblers, magazine subscriptions, cookie mixes, cheese, sauces and more! Students will have two weeks to sell their items. The order form attached inside the catalog is due on Tuesday, February 20, 2018. Please give us all three sheets (white, yellow, pink). We will give a sheet back to your student during delivery. Products will be delivered the week of March 19th.
This fundraiser is our annual fundraiser where proceeds from this sale are used to pay for music, instruments, supplies, equipment, accompanists, and clinicians to better our music students and programs.

We are asking students to COLLECT THE MONEY when they deliver the products. When delivering products, Please pay by check only to Learwood Middle School. Parents, I would ask that you collect all money and checks written to your name, then write us ONE CHECK to Learwood Middle School. Remember please write the check(s) after you have delivered the fundraiser items.
Students will receive prizes for their hard work. Any student who sells five items by Wednesday, February 7, can bring in their order form and show it to me and they will receive a headphone splitter! So go sell your five items today! There are many prizes available if a student sells 10, 20, 30, 40, and 50+ items!
All students received hard copies of the catalog, order form, and an information sheet today.

Annual Avon Lake Band Festival and Pancake Breakfast
The Annual Avon Lake Band Festival and Pancake Breakfast will take place on Saturday, February 24 from 9:00 AM-12:30 PM at the ALHS Commons. This is a required performance for students in the 7th Grade Concert Band, 8th Grade Concert Band, and Learwood Jazz Ensemble. The festival highlights "pops" music (movie music, popular styles, and lighthearted selections). Performance times are below:
9:00 – 5th Grade Band A
9:15 – HS Symphonic Band
9:45 – 5th Grade Band B
10 – HS Jazz
10:20 - 8th Grade Band
10:35 – 6th Grade band
11:00 – Learwood Jazz
11:20 – HS Concert Band
11:45 – 7th Grade Band
$8 adults, $5 juniors 5-9, under 5 free

Half-Priced Lessons Program Applications are available!!!
THE AVON LAKE BAND AIDS, INC. IS PROVIDING FUNDING TO OFFER PRIVATE LESSONS TO ALL STUDENTS IN THE LEARWOOD AND TROY BANDS FOR HALF THE TYPICAL COST OF LESSONS. THIS PROGRAM IS FIRST COME, FIRST SERVED LESSONS WITH A LIMITED NUMBER OF AVAILABLE SPOTS FOR TWELVE (12) WEEKLY LESSONS. THE LESSONS INSTRUCTORS WILL PROVIDE THE LESSONS ONCE EACH WEEK AT AVON LAKE HIGH SCHOOL OR ANOTHER PLACE DESIGNATED BY THE INSTRUCTOR, AFTER SCHOOL HOURS. THE LESSONS WILL BEGIN THE WEEK OF NOVEMBER 6, 2017 AND FINISH AT THE CONCLUSION OF THE 12 CONTRACTED LESSONS. TYPICALLY, WITHOUT A PROGRAM SUCH AS THIS, PRIVATE LESSONS WOULD COST ABOUT $20-$25 PER HALF HOUR LESSON. FAMILIES THAT ARE SELECTED FOR THE HALF-PRICED LESSONS PROGRAM WILL ONLY PAY HALF THE COST OF THE TOTAL LESSONS UP FRONT TO THE LESSON INSTRUCTOR. THE AVON LAKE BAND AIDS WILL PAY THE OTHER HALF OF THE TOTAL COST. THIS IS A FIRST COME, FIRST SERVED PROGRAM!

Parents! Have your child download the Bandmate Chromatic Tuner from the AppStore or Google Play! We use it in class and it will help your child's practice at home. The Bandmate app will show the player what note they are playing, so they can see for themselves if they are playing the correct note in tune!
